What is ShapeTranslate?
ShapeTranslate is a multilingual WordPress and WooCommerce plugin that lets you translate website content, products, URLs and SEO elements into multiple languages, right from WordPress.
Is ShapeTranslate a free multilingual WordPress plugin?
Yes. The free plugin supports unlimited languages, with no time limit and no locked screens. You can translate posts, pages, custom post types, taxonomies, menus and strings, and get language URLs, hreflang and sitemaps. ShapeTranslate Pro adds WooCommerce, AI translation and team workflow. It adds features, it does not unlock limits.
Do I keep my translations when I upgrade?
Yes. Pro reads the same languages, settings and translations as the free plugin. Deactivate ShapeTranslate, activate ShapeTranslate Pro, and everything is where you left it. Deactivate the free plugin rather than deleting it, or keep “Delete data on uninstall” turned off.
Does ShapeTranslate support hreflang and multilingual SEO?
Yes. Every language gets its own URL, as a directory, subdomain, separate domain or ?lang= parameter. ShapeTranslate outputs hreflang links with an x-default, sets the right lang attribute and canonicals, and adds every language to the WordPress sitemaps. It works with Yoast SEO, Rank Math and SEOPress. Pro adds language-aware SEO-plugin sitemaps, schema and AI translation of SEO fields.
How does ShapeTranslate translate WooCommerce products?
With ShapeTranslate Pro, each translated product is linked to the original in a translation group. You translate the title, descriptions, slug, attributes and variation descriptions for each language, by hand, with DeepL or with your AI provider. Simple, variable and grouped products are supported, and product categories, tags, brands and global attributes are translated too.
Can I translate WooCommerce products without duplicating my store?
Yes. All languages run in the same WooCommerce store. Product translations share one price, SKU, stock and set of variations, so there is no second shop to manage. The cart, checkout, My Account and order emails follow the customer’s language.
Does stock stay in sync between languages?
Yes. Every translation of a product uses one inventory, including reserved stock during checkout. Price, SKU and variations stay in sync too.
Does ShapeTranslate convert prices to other currencies?
No. Every language uses your store’s currency and the same price. The price format, such as separators and symbol position, can be set per language.
Which language are WooCommerce emails sent in?
Customers get emails in the language they ordered in. Store admins get them in their own profile language, or the site’s default language.
Does AI translation cost extra?
ShapeTranslate does not sell credits. You connect your own AI provider account through WordPress Connectors, or your own DeepL key, and pay that provider directly.
Does ShapeTranslate work with Elementor?
Yes. Elementor pages, Theme Builder templates, popups and popular header and footer builders can be translated, so each language gets its own version that you edit in Elementor. An Elementor language switcher widget is included. AI translation copies Elementor layouts but does not translate widget content. Block editor and classic editor content is translated by AI.

Translating a template keeps its type and display rules, and points rules that name a page or term at that page’s translation. If a language has no template of its own yet, the original language’s template is shown.
What do I need to run it?
WordPress 6.4 and PHP 7.4 or newer. AI through WordPress Connectors needs WordPress 7.0. DeepL works on any supported version.
